Eat FAT to Speed Up Metabolism?

It's about as counterintuitive as it can be, but it's true: there are good fats you should include in your weight loss that are known to speed metabolism up. You've heard about good fats for weight loss and bad fats. But we're going to ignore both of those to discuss great fats that help you burn fat faster to look and feel great, without starving yourself!

The Best Fat To Speed Up Metabolism

Coconut oil is by far the best fat to speed up metabolism. There are a lot of myths about coconut oil, however. Therefore let's explore the hard science behind this awesome food. First of all, coconut oil is a medium-chained fatty acid, or MCFA. It's processed like a good carbohydrate should be within your body. In other words, it's processed as a short-term and medium-chained energy source. If all carbohydrates were processed that way, you wouldn't be fat unless you just decided to eat 6,000 calories a day or something.

The Best Fat To Speed Up Metabolism: Study #1

The medical journal Metabolism has published two studies regarding the thermogenic, or fat-burning effect, of high calorie diets containing 40% fat. YES, I said 40% fat. This is going to blow the lid off the 'Fat Makes You Fat' argument. Studies showed the difference between 40% of your diet coming from medium-chained fatty acids such as coconut oil compared to diets containing 40% fat coming from low-chain fatty acids, or LCFA's. Scientists measured the actual calories expended by thermogenesis post-meal. Astoundingly, the thermogenic effects of the MCFA's were almost twice as high as the LCFAs, 120 calories versus 66 calories! The researchers concluded that the excess energy provided by fats, but only in the form of MCFAs, would not be efficiently stored as fat! Rather, the energy produced would be burned! That's the way the MCFAs work; they work as an energy source.

The Best Fat To Speed Up Metabolism: Scientific Studies

A follow-up study was conducted, also published in Metabolism, the medical journal. The same thing happened again! Coconut oil in the form of MCFAs given over a six-day period to the patients resulted in greater diet-induced thermogenesis by 50%. This is close to the level of ephedrine, caffeine and aspirin. Better yet, coconut oil tastes fantastic, so you're going to love cooking with it, too.

How to Cook with Metabolism Boosting Foods

When it comes to calories you need to make sure that you substitute one oil for another. For example, if you're using olive oil right now, begin to curve back the olive oil and increase the coconut oil. You can also mix the two. On the other hand, if you're using butter a lot you should cut it out entirely and then use coconut oil. If you just love butter and you want to keep eating it whatever you do, do not use margarine or another one of the fake fats that you see in a grocery store. The I Can't Believe It's Not Butter, I can't believe it's sold. I can't believe that it's legal to sell that!" Fake butters are often loaded with trans fats, among other dangerous ingredients.  speed metabolism up with good fats instead of dangerous fake butters to help you look great, feel great, and lose weight fast.
